Several Tips for Choosing a Bathtub

    2010-02-11

The most important things you should pay attention for choosing a bathtub is the size, functionality, design and material. Before you go to choose a bathtub like a massage bath tub, you should be clear about your requirements from the bathtub. Do not buy a whirlpool bathtub or massage bath tub just because it looks so comfortable and inviting. Will you actually take shower bath often and can you justify the added energy costs as well as extra water consumption? Please make sure that you do need a bathtub and what kind of enjoyment you intend to get from a bath.
The Size of bathtub is usually depended on the size of the bathroom. However, in the precondition of fitting the bathroom, your tub should not be so small that you do not fit in it, or so big that there is unnecessary usage of water. Even the tubs sharing the same size are diverse in deepness, width, length and shape.
When it comes to the shape of tubs, it is inevitable to talk about the design. Yes, it is true that the functionality and features of the bathtub are what you should primarily look at, but don’t overlook its look, color, and style in the process. A bathtub that does not match in color and style to the other fixtures in your bathroom as that will make your bath look very uninviting. Thus, do ensure that the bathtub has good aesthetic appeal as well. Some tubs have a skirt-edge, on the left or right side. Please make sure which side is fit your bathroom, since it will make the tub cannot to be installed if you make a mistake.
Different materials will give the bathtubs different degrees of durability, strength, and difficulty of maintenance. According to their materials, tubs are classified as Acrylic tubs, Porcelain tubs, Cast iron tubs, Fiberglass, Marble, and Wood. While a fiberglass tub can be very cost effective, it may not be as durable as porcelain or an acrylic tub. A cast iron tub can last you for years but is quite expensive. Marble and Wooden tubs can look very attractive but are very high maintenance and will not last you for very long. Thus, your choice of tub material will depend on your budget, your frequency of use, ease of maintenance of the tub, and its durability.
The last thing I want to remind you is that all the shower enclosures are better to be original binding. And it is wise of you to ask professionals to install your tubs.
